Diablo 4 is already set to receive season 8 update. During the latest Campfire Chat livestream, developer gave players an idea of what to expect from the upcoming patch. Although the current season is mainly focused on adding Witch-related game mechanics, Season 8 will focus on boss battles.

In the upcoming season, because the focus is on boss battles, there will not only be new bosses added but also familiar old friends, such as Belial. Belial was loved by many people in Diablo 3. His addition is to increase the player’s familiarity with the game on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is an innovation. The old character becomes a new boss, which is full of fun no matter how you look at it.

Belial Will Become New Boss

Belial is one of the most powerful demons in Diablo. Unlike other demons, Belial uses conspiracy as one of his most powerful Diablo 4 weapon, which is very special compared to many other monsters’ weapons. Because this abstract weapon is very deceptive, he has won the title of “Lord of Lies”. From his title, we can see that this weapon is more terrible than the weapon directly displayed in front of people, and players need to be more careful.

In Diablo 3, players encounter Belial. However, the battle is not imminent after encountering Belial. This demon will first summon his army. When the player defeats the soldiers summoned by Belial, the real battle has just begun.

Apparition Incursions

Also, Season 8 introduces Apparition Incursions, a fast-paced boss rush mode.

Belial will be Pinnacle Boss in Diablo 4 Apparition Incursions, which means he will be much harder to defeat than Duriel and Andariel. The developers mentioned in the livestream that he will offer the “highest challenge” and “highest rewards” that the Diablo 4 endgame can offer.

Boss Ladder Changes

The developers have also made some pretty significant changes to Diablo 4’s boss ladder in general. In addition to new bosses and the ability to channel their signature powers, the developers have greatly simplified the boss’ summoning process. Previously, players would have to summon bosses in a particularly troublesome way, which was a series of ways that players didn’t like, which greatly affected the player’s experience of the game.

So the previous troublesome system was abolished and replaced with a simple lair key system. In this mode, each final boss has its own lair key.

So in Season 8 update, the final boss will be freely summonable. But in the same way, there are gains and losses. Under the new mechanism, winning a game will drop less loot and Diablo 4 gold, and the randomly dropped treasure chests will lock most of the rewards and loot. At this time, you need a key to open them. Which is just the old summoning material you’d normally used to summon the boss, to open the chest and reap the rewards from the fight.

In addition, everyone in the team needs to use a key to open the treasure chest, which is undoubtedly a challenge for players, and some players may find it troublesome. However, the developer said that for every additional person in the team, the chance of obtaining additional special items will increase by 33%, so a well-coordinated team is the key to earning a lot of Diablo 4 Gold in Season 8!

This change is to attract more players on the one hand, and to respond to previous player’s feedback on the other hand, to meet the needs of players as much as possible. The developer said that in order to show its sincerity, Diablo 4 Season 8 will add corresponding mechanisms based on the preferences of players.

Focused On Boss Battles

As we said before, the core of Season 8 is focused on boss battles. You can collect power from killed bosses to complete the build, and the power effects of different bosses are also different. The abilities displayed by each Boss will exist in two states, one is Main Power that plays the main role, and the other is the Modifier that plays a modifying role. Players can generally only add one Main Power and three Modifiers to the ability slot at one time.

This mode is like deepening the crafting, with the main power being the core of the character, and the modified power adding fantasy. 

As we mentioned before, the arrival of the new season also brings the new Apparition Incursion event, where players will fight Belial’s Apparition bosses that appear in different locations on the Sanctuary map. However, please note that this event has no additional rewards and is only described as a good way to upgrade your character and gain boss power.
